About
RobCo GmbH is a Munich-based autonomous industrial robotics company founded in 2020 as a spinout from the Technical University of Munich's Chair of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The company develops a full-stack platform combining patented modular robot hardware with AI-driven software (RobFlow, RobCo Studio, RobVision) to automate repetitive manufacturing tasks such as machine tending, palletizing, materials handling, and finishing. Its Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) model requires zero upfront CapEx—customers pay a predictable monthly subscription while RobCo owns, deploys, maintains, and continuously improves the robots.
The company's flagship product family includes configurable modular robot arms (from 5 kg / 1 m to 40 kg / 2.5 m payload/reach) and the upcoming Autonomous Alfie, a bimanual Physical AI robot targeting Level 3–4 autonomy for high-mix, unstructured manufacturing tasks. Alfie is scheduled for commercial launch at the inaugural RobCoN summit in Munich on March 4, 2027. RobCo's no-code RobFlow platform enables rapid deployment through digital-twin simulation and demonstration-based skill acquisition, without specialist programming expertise.
With over 300 robots deployed across hundreds of customers in more than 10 countries—including BMW, Rosenberger, and T-Systems—RobCo has grown rapidly since its Series B in February 2024. In 2025, the company acquired the assets of U.S. firm Rapid Robotics and opened a San Francisco headquarters alongside Austin manufacturing and assembly operations, with customer deployments spanning more than a dozen U.S. states. CEO Roman Hölzl has relocated to the United States to personally lead the expansion. In October 2026, RobCo crossed a $1 billion valuation through a secondary share sale, becoming Germany's latest robotics unicorn. The company has raised close to $200 million in total funding and lists defense among its served industries.
