About
RoverTech is a Ukrainian defense-technology company founded in December 2023 that designs and manufactures the ZMIY family of armored unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for use on the modern battlefield. Born out of a small car service station run by former miners and veterans from Lviv Oblast, the company has grown into a nationwide network of contractors, production sites, and R&D centers capable of assembling up to 30 robots per day.
The ZMIY platform comes in multiple configurations: a logistics variant capable of carrying 500+ kg of cargo across minefields and swamps; a demining complex (KNRO) that can clear up to 3 hectares per charge at a safe operator distance of up to 40 km; a compact ZMIY Mini for constrained environments; and the ZMIY Droid 12.7, an armored strike UGV co-developed with DevDroid that mounts a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun with AI-assisted target tracking. All systems use Starlink for communications and are optimized for the diverse terrain of eastern and southern Ukraine.
By early 2026, RoverTech had delivered over 800 robots to Ukrainian Defense Forces units, completing more than 22,000 frontline missions without infantry involvement. The company is part of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's compensation program and has been approved for procurement through the DOT-Chain Defense marketplace. In 2025 RoverTech won the international Sikorsky Innovation Challenge for humanitarian demining, and in 2026 its ZMIY platform won the DOU Awards in the "Most Promising Defense Tech Project" category. The company has signed a memorandum of cooperation with France's STRONGHOLD AI for the TARANTULA active-protection program and is actively pursuing European market entry and joint-venture partnerships.
