About
Seaber is a French marine robotics company founded in 2020 and headquartered in Lorient, Brittany. It designs and manufactures micro autonomous underwater vehicles (micro-AUVs) that weigh just 10 kg, measure 1 metre in length, dive to 300 m depth, and operate for 8–10 hours on a single charge. Its YUCO product line serves scientific and commercial oceanographic applications across eight sensor-payload variants (side-scan sonar, CTD, passive acoustic monitoring, eDNA sampling, optical camera, and more), while the MARVEL line targets defence-oriented missions including mine countermeasures (MCM), coast guard operations, and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) training.
Seaber pairs its hardware with SEAPLAN, a proprietary mission-planning software suite. The company's vehicles have been sold in over 20 countries and are used by oceanographic research institutes, universities, coast guards, and multiple European navies. Revenue has doubled year-on-year since 2022, and the company recorded a net profit of €488,000 in 2024. With roughly 20 employees, Seaber aims to commercialise 100 drones annually by 2030.
The company participates in major European research programmes, including the France 2030-funded SEAMAP project (large-scale biodiversity mapping with a fleet of 10 micro-AUVs in partnership with CNRS-LEMAR and MARBEC) and the Seabed 2030 ocean-floor mapping initiative. Its dual-use positioning — spanning civilian oceanography and naval defence — has attracted a growing roster of institutional and defence-specialist investors.
