About
Semidynamics is a Barcelona-based fabless semiconductor company founded in 2016 that develops RISC-V processor IP and AI inference hardware. Its portfolio includes 64-bit out-of-order Atrevido and in-order Avispado cores, vector and tensor units, the Cervell all-in-one RISC-V NPU, the Gazzillion memory-access latency-tolerance subsystem, and the Aliado software development kit, toolchain and ONNX Runtime integration. The company was initially a design services hub before moving into its own IP around 2019.
Semidynamics positions its architecture around the memory wall, aiming to support larger models, KV-caches and contexts than conventional HBM-based inference systems. The company has extended from IP into chips, boards and full rack-scale AI inference systems, and reported taping out its first silicon on TSMC's 3nm process. It has announced a rack-scale AI compute platform in cooperation with the French CPU designer SiPearl, and its customers and partners include UPMEM, Baya Systems, Arteris and YorChip.
Semidynamics has received around 45 million euros in non-dilutive funding from European and Spanish innovation programmes, including a 38.58 million euro grant from Spain's PERTE Chip programme in 2024. In April 2026 SK hynix made a strategic investment in the company, with the amount undisclosed. Roger Espasa, who previously worked at Intel, Broadcom and Esperanto Technologies, leads the company as CEO.
