About
Sensible Biotechnologies is a biotechnology company founded in 2021 that is developing an integrated, cell-based platform for designing and manufacturing naturally modified mRNA. It was founded by Miroslav Gasparek and Marian Kupculak, and was part of the Y Combinator Summer 2021 batch. Its VECTOR platform combines AI-driven mRNA sequence design and high-throughput screening with proprietary producer cell lines engineered for each therapeutic mRNA. Its patented PromPT technology selectively captures target mRNA inside the cell before extraction. Cell-made mRNA is described as pure, immune-silent and naturally modified, free of the double-stranded RNA impurities associated with conventional in vitro transcription, and the platform supports linear, circular and self-amplifying RNA modalities aimed at therapies that require high or repeated dosing.
Sensible works with partners through mRNA design, optimisation and production services, licensing of Sensible-originated sequences and strains, and co-development or out-licensing of its own therapeutic programs. In July 2025 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Sartorius Stedim Biotech to scale up its platform, with a stated goal of clinical-grade cell-based mRNA production by 2026. In June 2025 its AI platform, built on NVIDIA technology, reduced the time needed to optimize novel cell-based mRNA therapeutics by more than 90 percent. The company was accepted into the NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) programme and was named Best HealthTech Startup in Central Europe at the Global Startup Awards 2025.
In October 2026 the company secured a $47M financing package consisting of a Series A led by Oxford Science Enterprises and OTB Ventures, plus up to $20M in non-dilutive funding from the Governments of Slovakia and the European Union. Other investors include In-Q-Tel, Isomer Capital, Recode Ventures and Y Combinator. Proceeds are earmarked for scaling the VECTOR platform, expanding AI-enabled design and automated screening, and building clinical-grade manufacturing capacity. Its facilities span Oxford in the United Kingdom, Bratislava and Sarisske Michalany in Slovakia, and sites in the United States.
