About
Sky-Watch A/S is a Danish defence-technology company founded in 2009 in Støvring, North Jutland. The company designs, manufactures and delivers integrated ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) capability for NATO and allied defence forces, centred on its flagship RQ-35 Heidrun — a hand-launched, fixed-wing mini-UAS that operates autonomously in GPS-denied and electronically contested environments. In June 2026 the company introduced the RQ-70 Dainn, a long-range UAS offering up to eight hours of endurance and a 100 km beyond-front-line reach, unveiled at Eurosatory in Paris. The wider product portfolio spans UAV airframes, the Zentra stabilised EO/IR sensor payloads, edge-compute processing and AI-assisted mission software with C4I interoperability.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Sky-Watch has been one of the most operationally active Western tactical-UAS suppliers on an active battlefield, with individual RQ-35 Heidrun systems logging 500+ missions. Operational feedback from Ukraine flows directly back to the engineering team in Støvring, driving approximately 85 documented platform and software upgrades. The company maintains a Kyiv office and an in-country repair facility, and partners with Helsing to integrate Sky-Watch ISR drones with Helsing's AI-enabled loitering munitions in a system-of-systems architecture.
Sky-Watch was acquired by US-listed AIRO Group Holdings, Inc. in March 2022, becoming the core of AIRO's Drones segment. Prior to the acquisition the company was majority-owned by Danish private-equity fund Dangroup ApS with Borean Innovation (part of the Danish Ministry of Research) as a co-investor. Revenue reached approximately DKK 523 million (~$75 M) in 2025, roughly doubling from 2023 to 2024 on the back of large Ukrainian procurement programmes including a joint Netherlands/Denmark/Germany €200 million order for Heidrun systems. Headcount grew fourfold between 2022 and 2025 to around 129 full-time employees. The Netherlands Ministry of Defence selected the RQ-35 Heidrun in mid-2026 following a competitive COMMIT procurement, with deliveries across 2026 and a seven-year support agreement.
