Modular direct air capture units

About

Skytree is an Amsterdam-based climate tech company that builds modular Direct Air Capture (DAC) machines. Its units capture CO2 from ambient air onsite, filter it through a patented process and store it in pressurized buffer tanks for reuse. The company offers standardized Skytree Stratus units and multi-unit DAC Parks, and says it can be adapted to local energy sources, climates and CO2 output.

The technology traces back to more than a decade of applied research started at the European Space Agency, where scrubber technology was developed for spacecraft life support. Skytree was founded in 2014 and says it targets applications including greenhouse CO2 supply, Power-to-X, drink carbonation, water treatment and permanent carbon removal.

Commercial traction includes a first commercial Stratus system with Lingezegen Energy for Dutch greenhouses announced in June 2026, a Dutch greenhouse partnership backed by Koppert Cress' Division Q, a Stratus system selected by Forschungszentrum Julich for a Power-to-X project, and a deployment planned with Deep Sky in Canada. Skytree also reports a first-ever SDE++ subsidy award for DAC in the Dutch greenhouse sector and a Greenhouse of the Future award. In 2026 it announced a development loan from Invest International for its first Skypark project in Iceland and a market entry into Australia.
