About
Space Inventor A/S is a Danish satellite manufacturer based in Aalborg, founded in 2015 and formerly known as Think Outside Space Systems ApS. The company builds micro- and nanosatellite platforms using a modular approach it calls flexible modularity, built from standardized, flight-proven modules. It states that it manufactures about 95% of its satellite subsystems in house, using 5-axis CNC machines and pick-and-place lines, and it has opened a satellite factory in Aalborg.
The company's projects include the BIFROST surveillance satellite, which launched in June 2025 as Denmark's first satellite for monitoring Greenland and the Arctic, developed with Terma, Gatehouse SatCom, DTU and Unibap Space Solutions. It built GS-1 for Gravity Space, a geostationary CubeSat launched in 2023 that was the first Danish-built satellite to reach geostationary orbit. It is also building the Máni lunar satellite for a Danish-led mission, the DISCO-2 climate satellite developed with Danish universities, and platforms for Astroscale Japan's REFLEX-J mission and constellr's HiVE thermal constellation.
Customers include space and defence primes, governments and commercial operators. A 2024 contract from the US Department of Defense covered a satellite monitoring system to protect satellites against espionage and sabotage, and a 2026 project with Austrian propulsion specialist GATE Space covers the BEACONSAT military satellite. Space Inventor has also partnered with Addvalue on maritime surveillance payloads and with Simera Sense on CubeSat optical payloads. In January 2026 former DESMI CEO Henrik Sørensen acquired a 25.2% stake through Stenseminde Holding.
