About
The Vydar Group is a Delft-based deep-tech company founded in 2024 that develops AI edge hardware and software for navigation in GNSS-denied environments. Its core product is a compact navigation module, about 50 x 50 x 20 mm and roughly 50 grams, that runs on a custom hardware stack. The module uses onboard cameras to match terrain features against preloaded satellite maps stored offline, fused with IMU data, allowing drones to compute their position without satellite signals. In a test over a 1,000 km² map, the system reportedly achieved about 20-meter accuracy without any satellite link.
The company designs its processing layer, sensor layer and software in-house, and states that all components are sourced and manufactured within the European Union. This is positioned as a response to the reliance of many competing platforms on U.S.-designed, Asia-manufactured AI chips such as the Nvidia Jetson. Its products are aimed at defence and dual-use applications, including UAVs and unmanned ground vehicles, as well as missile systems, aircraft and distributed sensing networks. The company has tested its technology in Ukraine and has a partnership with the Dutch drone manufacturer Hyllus Systems.
Vydar is based in the YES!Delft validation programme at the TU Delft campus. It received an investment from Tenzing Alpha in December 2025 and raised $1.5 million from U.S. investors led by Blue Magic Ventures, the corporate venture arm of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, in May 2026. Its stated goal is to strengthen European strategic autonomy and reduce dependence on non-EU AI supply chains.
