About
Threod Systems is an Estonian defence technology company founded in 2012, specialising in the development and manufacturing of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), electro-optical ISR and target acquisition solutions, and pneumatic launcher systems for one-way effectors and target drones. The company operates across three core product lines: the Eos family of long-range fixed-wing and VTOL surveillance and target acquisition UAS; the eOpic family of lightweight electro-optical payloads with high-performance sensors and laser designators; and the Cata family of pneumatic aircraft launchers capable of deploying drones weighing up to 400 kg.
Threod's systems are field-proven through thousands of hours of real combat, deployed by customers in over 30 countries including 18 NATO member states and Ukraine, where they have been in operational use since 2017. The company holds ISO 9001:2015, AQAP 2110, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO/IEC 27001 certifications and was ranked #1 in Estonia's Defence Industry TOP 2026 by Äripäev. Revenue reached €38 million in 2024, an 87% year-on-year increase, driven by surge demand for tactical UAS and launcher systems in the context of the war in Ukraine and accelerated NATO defence spending.
Founded by ex-military aviation enthusiasts and largely bootstrapped, Threod has grown from roughly 50 to over 200 employees under CEO Arno Vaik, who joined in 2020. In March 2026, the UK Ministry of Defence awarded Threod a £4.99 million contract to supply Cata launchers as the common interoperable solution for the British Army's ASGARD one-way effector programme. In July 2025, Bloomberg reported the company was exploring a potential sale to major European defence companies or private equity, targeting €100 million in revenue within a few years.
