Virtual cell models for biopharma R&D

About

Turbine is a London- and Budapest-based virtual biology company. Its Virtual Lab (vLab) digitizes biology so scientists can run large numbers of virtual experiments, using Virtual Assays built on a Virtual Cell model to predict lab-like outputs from cellular phenotypes to molecular states. A lab-in-the-loop workflow feeds virtual findings into wet-lab tests, with results used to refine future predictions. The platform is marketed for target discovery, de-risking programs, and translational prediction in biopharma.

Turbine reports partnerships with several large pharma companies, including Bayer, AstraZeneca, Merck, Ono Pharmaceutical and Daiichi Sankyo, the latter on an antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) discovery collaboration. In February 2026 it announced a first immunology partnership with an unnamed top 10 pharma company and said it is extending its platform beyond oncology into immune-mediated disease research. Its earlier work focused on cancer, including a Simulated Cell platform used to select first-in-class programs targeting DNA damage repair.

Turbine has raised a €20M Series A in 2022 and a $25M Series B in February 2026. Its Series B is led by Interactive Venture Partners with participation from Beiersdorf Venture Capital and existing investors MSD Global Health Innovation, Accel and Mercia.
