About
U-Space is a Toulouse-based French manufacturer of next-generation nano- and microsatellites, founded in 2018 as a spin-off from ISAE-SUPAERO. The company designs, assembles, and operates modular small satellites ranging from 10 to 150 kg, targeting both commercial constellation operators and institutional clients across civil, scientific, and defense markets. Its flagship products include the 16U CubeSat platform and the FreeForm microsatellite, alongside a full ground segment offered as SaaS or on-premise with an Operations-as-a-Service option.
U-Space operates France's first dedicated nanosatellite factory — the U-Zine — a 1,000 m² facility within the B612 aerospace innovation hub in Toulouse, where it targets production of one satellite per week by 2027. The company has already launched four satellites including SOAP (space debris monitoring for CNES), PANDORE (LEO-PNT demonstrator for Safran-led consortium), and N3SS (spectrum monitoring for CNES), and is operating two customer satellites on orbit.
The company serves both institutional and private customers: it holds contracts with CNES, DLR (Germany), and the UAE's NSSTC, and is prime contractor for the Toutatis defense program (in-orbit space surveillance and action demonstration) in partnership with MBDA. Commercial customers include Unseenlabs (maritime surveillance) and Grasp Earth (aerosol detection constellations). With €31 million raised to date, U-Space is positioning itself as Europe's leading smallsat constellation manufacturer with ambitions for international expansion into Asia and beyond.
