About
Ubitium is a German fabless semiconductor startup developing the world's first universal RISC-V microprocessor—a single chip designed to replace the fragmented stack of CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, and FPGAs that makes modern embedded systems so complex. Founded in 2024 by semiconductor veterans Martin Vorbach (CTO, 200+ processor patents), Hyun Shin Cho (CEO), and Peter W Weber (Chairman, ex-Intel/Texas Instruments), Ubitium's Universal Processing Architecture reconfigures its execution fabric at runtime, dynamically adapting to any workload without specialized silicon.
The processor is fully RISC-V compatible, enabling developers to access the new architecture with existing toolchains and compilers. It runs Linux and RTOS simultaneously, handles signal processing and AI inference on a single die, and targets markets including consumer electronics, automotive, defense, and space. In March 2026, Ubitium taped out its UB410 chip on Samsung Foundry's 8nm process, and in July 2026 received first engineering silicon back—a landmark validation of the architecture.
Ubitium has also achieved a notable first: its CGRA became the first to execute Linux without a host CPU (April 2026), and the company was selected as a winner at Tech Tour Defence 2025 in Paris, demonstrating dual-use appeal. The company's HQ is in Düsseldorf, Germany, with a research center in Rülzheim and an engineering center in Karlsruhe.
