About
Vensum Power is a Finnish deeptech company that develops Software-Defined Power Conversion (SDPC), a platform for DC-DC power converters designed to reduce energy losses during power conversion. The technology combines soft-switching techniques, Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) and Zero Current Switching (ZCS), with digital control of the conversion process. Validated building blocks of hardware, firmware and control software are reused and reconfigured across products for new voltages, power levels and applications, which allows new converters to be developed faster than conventional application-specific designs. The company describes its converters as near-lossless, with efficiency held near peak across wide operating ranges and rapidly changing loads, and says they can deliver up to three times more power from the same footprint.
Vensum Power was founded in 2018 by Jyrki Penttonen and Mika Marjalaakso, growing out of research at Aalto University and based in Espoo, Finland. Its converters are intended for EV charging, energy storage systems, DC microgrids, renewable energy installations and AI data centres. In 2023 the company was developing a small 25kW isolated DC-DC converter. Mass production is planned for 2027, starting with EV charging, energy storage and DC microgrids, followed by AI data centres. Peter Nisula is CEO and Tero Lehtonen is COO.
The company raised a €3.8M seed round in May 2023 led by Lifeline Ventures, which included a €1.7M R&D loan and €400k of deep tech funding from Business Finland. In November 2026 it closed a €9M Series A co-led by Lifeline Ventures, Larsen & Toubro Group and Eviny Ventures, bringing total funding to €15.2M. The round is intended to fund the move from technology development to industrial production and expansion into AI data centres. The company employs around 20 people.
