About
VSORA SAS is a French fabless semiconductor company headquartered in Meudon, France, that designs processors for artificial intelligence inference. It was founded in 2015 by Khaled Maalej, Trung Dung Nguyen, Pierre-Emmanuel Bernard and Julien Schmitt, with Maalej serving as CEO. The company began by developing multicore DSP intellectual property for 5G digital communications and later moved into automotive compute chips for autonomous driving, including the Tyr processor family, before focusing on AI inference.
VSORA's flagship product is the Jotunn8 (J8) inference processor, which uses high-bandwidth memory (HBM3e) packaged alongside the accelerator die, with 288 GB of HBM3e memory, 8 TB/s of memory bandwidth and 3,200 TFLOPS at FP32 according to company materials. The design aims to address the memory wall that limits large-scale AI inference, targeting lower latency, lower power consumption and lower total cost of ownership for cloud, data center and sovereign deployments. Jotunn8 tape-out was announced in October 2025 and production launch in October 2025, with Turnkey ASIC design services provided by Global Unichip Corp. (GUC) for the tape-out.
In June 2026 VSORA, Scaleway, ZML and the Île-de-France Region committed to deploy a Jotunn8-powered AI compute cluster in the Île-de-France region to offer sovereign AI infrastructure to local companies and startups. The company's customers and market focus are cloud providers, data centers and enterprises seeking on-premises or sovereign inference capacity. VSORA has received recognition including a French Tech 2030 laureate designation, support from the European Innovation Council, selection for the EIC STEP Scale Up programme in 2026, and the title of Systematic Paris-Region Champion 2025.
