About
Welinq is a Paris-based quantum networking company founded in 2022 by Tom Darras, Julien Laurat, Eleni Diamanti and Jean Lautier-Gaud, several of whom previously worked together in academia. The company is based on the scientific work of the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel at Sorbonne University and develops quantum memories based on laser-cooled neutral atoms, reporting 90% storage-and-retrieval efficiency. Its stated aim is to interconnect quantum processors so that they can operate together as scalable, heterogeneous quantum computing clusters, and to enable quantum-safe links between data centers and HPC centers.
Welinq's product line includes QDrive, a commercial quantum memory for quantum data centers launched in March 2025, a quantum link offering that combines photonics, storage and light-qubit interfaces, and software for algorithm partitioning and distributed error correction. It also released the araQne compiler for distributed quantum computing in January 2025 and launched a commercial rack-mounted Entangled Photon Pair Source in February 2026. In January 2026 the company sold its first QDrive unit to the Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for Slovakia's national quantum communication infrastructure.
Welinq has announced partnerships with Quandela (2024), Pasqal (2024, with the InterQo project launched in 2026 with €4M of France 2030 funding), QphoX on optical interconnects for superconducting processors (2025), and OVHcloud on networked quantum computing architectures (2026). In October 2025 it announced the Meet-Q project with QphoX and Sorbonne University, and in July 2025 it joined the UK Integrated Quantum Networks Hub. The company raised a €5M pre-seed round led by Quantonation in January 2023 and received a €2.5M EIC Transition grant in 2024.
