About

WhiteLab Genomics is a Paris-based techbio company founded in 2019 and backed by Y Combinator. It uses its proprietary AI platform, ALFRED (AI-Led Framework for Rational Exploration in Drug Design), to design viral vectors such as AAVs, non-viral carriers such as lipid nanoparticles, and programmable genetic payloads for gene and cell therapies. Candidates are then validated experimentally and in vivo, and the company says its approach can reduce the time and cost of genomic medicine development.

Rather than taking assets to the clinic itself, WhiteLab has said it works mainly through partnerships. Axios reported about 15 revenue-generating partnerships with biotechs and Big Pharma, including Sanofi, Debiopharm, Cytiva, Siren Biotechnology, UMass Chan Medical School, Genethon and the Paris Brain Institute. Its work on AI-designed AAVs that crossed the blood-brain barrier in in vivo studies is company-reported preclinical data.

In October 2026 WhiteLab closed a $26M Series B led by AVP, with Yaday Health and Blast Club as new investors and Omnes Capital and Debiopharm Innovation Fund participating. The company said the funds will expand in vivo validation and commercial activity in North America, Europe and Asia, and aims to build a portfolio of validated bio-assets to advance alone or with pharma partners. Offices are listed in Paris, Boston and Montréal.
