About
Wingcopter is a German drone manufacturer and service provider founded in 2017, headquartered in Weiterstadt, Germany. The company develops all-electric tilt-rotor eVTOL unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that combine vertical take-off and landing with efficient fixed-wing forward flight, enabling long-range beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) operations. Its flagship product, the Wingcopter 198, can carry payloads of up to five kilograms across up to three drop sites, reach speeds of 150 km/h, cover ranges of up to 75 kilometres, and be monitored by a single operator overseeing up to ten aircraft simultaneously.
Wingcopter serves two primary markets: logistics and aerial data collection. In logistics, it delivers medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, groceries, and other goods to hard-to-reach or underserved areas — with operations in Malawi, Kenya, Japan, Mexico, and Germany. For aerial data collection, it offers long-range LiDAR surveying of critical infrastructure, using state-of-the-art laser scanner payloads. The company holds type certification approvals or processes in the US, Brazil, and Japan, and operates both as a drone manufacturer and as a drone service provider.
In 2026, Wingcopter expanded into the defence sector through its newly established Wingcopter Security & Defence (WSD) unit. It launched the Wingcopter 262, a modular all-electric tactical reconnaissance eVTOL with up to six hours of flight time and a 150 km tactical range, featuring AI-enabled EO/IR camera systems and GNSS-denied navigation. Wingcopter also formed a joint venture with TAF Industries — Ukraine's largest UAV manufacturer — to mass-produce reconnaissance drones in Germany under the
