About
Zaitra s.r.o. is a Brno-based company that develops onboard data processing software and hardware for satellites, aiming to reduce the cost of satellite data transmission and shorten latency. Its products include SKAISEN, an AI-powered onboard cloud detection and object detection software that filters unneeded imagery before downlink; SKAIDOCK, a space-qualified data processing unit built with Xiphos hardware; SKAIPACK, a compression suite for multi- and hyperspectral imaging; and XSCAPE, an FPGA IP core for Simera Sense xScape imagers.
The company was founded in 2020 by Marek Marusin, Martin Javorka and Rado Pitonak after a hackathon, and was accepted into the Copernicus Acceleration programme and the ESA Business Incubation Centre Czech Republic. It has contributed onboard data processing to missions including SATurnin-1 for a Czech defence mission, the SLAVIA CubeSats performing meteorite spectral analysis, and the TROLL 6U CubeSat launched in January 2025 on SpaceX Transporter-12. The CORVUS mission for space debris monitoring is scheduled for 2026.
Zaitra has partnerships with Simera Sense, Xiphos and Zeabuz, the latter a memorandum of understanding to combine satellite intelligence with maritime autonomy. Its target markets include defence, aerospace, maritime security and environmental monitoring. In October 2024 the company closed a pre-seed round of about €1.7M, comprising roughly €700K of private capital led by Sunfish Partners and over €1M of public funding, primarily from ESA and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. In February 2026 it was selected for the EIC Accelerator, which included a €2.5M grant.
