About

Zeabuz AS is a Norwegian maritime autonomy company headquartered in Trondheim. It was founded in 2019 as a spin-off from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), drawing on research into autonomous marine operations and systems. The company develops a modular autonomy stack, including its ZeaMate self-sailing system that pilots vessels, the ZeaControl station-keeping and motion-control system, and the ZeaWatch docking assist system for aquaculture and other vessels.

Zeabuz's technology powers MF Estelle in Stockholm, which is described as the world's first autonomous commercial passenger ferry. Its offering covers autonomous navigation, autodocking, collision avoidance, autocrossing, remote supervision and a Virtual Cable Ferry system, which was delivered to the Government of Åland and entered service in September 2026. Its platform can be retrofitted to existing vessels or built into newbuilds, and is aimed at reducing fuel use, collision risk and crew dependency.

In October 2025 Zeabuz launched a dual-use autonomy platform for defence and security applications together with Damen Shipyards Group, integrating its system on the ZeaFalcon, a 7-metre Damen uncrewed surface vessel. The company has also joined the EUDIS Business Accelerator, selected Yinson GreenTech's marinEV for the Langkawi Electric Ferry Project, and signed agreements with operators and partners including Brim Explorer, Trafikverket Färjerederiet, Haugesund Kommune, Future Marine and Singapore Institute of Technology.

Zeabuz has raised seed funding from Yinson Green Technologies, Statkraft Ventures and others, plus grants from Innovation Norway and EIT Urban Mobility. In April 2026 it secured NOK 40 million, its largest raise to date, led by Grieg Kapital with participation from Eitzen Group and Barclay Holding, and Eirik Barclay joined as Executive Chair.
